Higher Ed Wins One!

The Alabama Supreme Court voted 8 to 1 in favor of higher education, granting the Universities' motion to stay the second order entered by Judge McCooey pending appeals. This puts pro-ration back to 6.2 percent across-the-board, lifting the 11.2 percent pro-ration.

Dr. Meehan said late Wednesday afternoon that he is pleased. "This means we do not have to come up with another 5.6 percent or $1.6 million. This puts the issue back to the Legislature or to the Governor to make a recommendation to the Legislature."
