JSU's Chamber Winds in Concert

The Chamber Winds will be performing a farewell concert dedicated to Patricia Parker, piano professor at JSU. The concert will be April 8 at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Anniston.

With the band, Ms. Parker will be performing Symphonic Variations by Ce'sar Franck. Although this piece wasn't written for band music, former JSU Band Director, David L. Walters spent the past summer transcribing it for the band. Kenneth Bodiford, present Band Director, stated that Dr. Walters put a lot of work into transcribing this piece and the finished result is great.

Recent concerto winner, Jeremy Benson will be performing Mozart Flute Concerto No. 2, accompanied by the band.

The audience will also hear the band perform Dance of the Tumblers by Rimsky-Korsakov and two movements from the Lord of the Rings (this is also being turned into a movie this summer). The first movement will be Gandalf (the wizard) and the second will be Hobbits, both by Johan De Meij.

The concert is expected to last an hour and everyone is invited to attend. Admission is free.

For further information, contact the band office at (256) 782-5562.
