Hammond Hall Gallery Features "Alabama Artists Invitational"


JACKSONVILLE -- February 23, 2001 -- "Alabama Artists Invitational" will be held March 6-23, in the Hammond Hall Gallery. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The exhibition will feature eight well-established artists who work and reside in Alabama. Three of the artists have received the prestigious Alabama State Council on the Arts Fellowship in Crafts awards (*), four of the artists teach at other universities or colleges in Alabama (**), and all have impressive exhibition and award records for their artwork.

The exhibition will consist of a wide variety of contemporary artistic investigations and expressions from art furniture to abstract paintings.

The following artists will be in the exhibition:

Gay Burke - Photographs **
Murray Johnston - Art Quilts *
Orren Kickliter - Paintings and prints
Dale Lewis - Art Furniture *, **
Richard Mills - Paintings **
Tommy Moorehead - Paintings
John Philips - Metal Works *
Robert Shelton - Paintings and Assemblages **

The exhibition is free and open for all to come. There will be an opening reception: March 6 at 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served.

Dr. Karen Henricks will be giving a gallery talk Wednesday, March 7 at 10:00.
