Schedule of Events
for International Week

JACKSONVILLE -- February 20, 2001 -- Students from all over the world call Jacksonville State University home. At JSU, you can find the blending of hundreds of different cultures.

Because we sometimes don’t understand each other culturally, the International House at JSU is hosting International Week. On March 11-17, a number of events will be centered around students having fun and learning more about each other.

The schedule:

Sunday, March 11
Soccer Singles


Teams consisting of eleven students will be matched up to battle it out. Currently, there are six teams slated to play, but others are welcome.

Monday, March 12
Heritage Exposition

Theron Montgomery Building (TMB) Lobbies
10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

In every lobby of the TMB, there will be displays from almost every country in the world. The displays will give information about the countries that international students at JSU live in.

Tuesday, March 13

Movie Night

TMB Auditorium
7:30 p.m. & 9:00 p.m.

SGA and International Programs will sponsor a foreign film. It will be the same as any other Movie Night. Admission will still be $1.00.

Wednesday, March 14
International House Event
“A Night Around the World”

7:00 p.m.

This spectacular night at the International House is open to the public. International students will present a program about their cultures and countries. The program will be complete with dancing, fashion and other talents.

Thursday, March 15
Speaker Night

Gamecock Center—Stephenson
7:00 p.m.

A speaker will inform the audience about the economic hardships that international students face during their stay in the U.S.

Friday, March 16
Beach Volleyball

Stephenson Sandfield
3:00 p.m.

With all this warm weather, many are dreaming of hitting the beach. And nothing says “beach” quite like beach volleyball. Students are invited to join this game by forming a team or join one when you arrive.

Saturday, March 17
Taster’s Fair

TMB Auditorium
5:00 p.m.

Get your taste buds ready for this treat. Food from around the world that was prepared by international students and local restaurants will be at your finger tips. These international students will also entertain while you eat with their costumes and talents.
