Mandatory Information Session for Campus Bulk Mail Preparers

University departments and personnel who prepare bulk mail should mark their calendars to attend one of two upcoming sessions about the U.S. Postal Service's new Move Update Standards. The sessions will be December 16 and 18 from 9-10 a.m. in Room 323, Bibb Graves Hall.

Almost five out of every 100 pieces of mail are undeliverable-as-addressed (UAA) mail. Standard mail accounts for almost 63 percent of all UAA mail. The Move Update standard is the USPS' means of reducing the number of pieces in a mailing that require forwarding, return or disposal by the periodic matching of a mailer's address records with customer-filed change-of-address orders received and maintained by the USPS.

It is very important that anyone who prepares bulk mail attend one of these sessions, as noncompliance with the new standard will result in higher mail costs for customers.

For more information or to reserve your seat in one of the sessions, please contact Robin Smyre at the JSU Mail Center at ext. 5290.
