Greg Glaze Assumes Command of LEA

On April 14, former JSU student Greg Glaze was named director of the Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy (LEA), a regional law enforcement training academy located on Jacksonville State University's McClellan campus. According to the academy's web site, the LEA is one of ten law enforcement training academies in Alabama certified by the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission. The Northeast Alabama LEA was established in 1972 and chose the location of JSU's satellite campus because it's a central area to the 21 counties served through law enforcement training. The Department of Criminal Justice students and faculty benefit from the LEA's resources including law enforcement libraries.

Glaze and other LEA instructors have participated as guest lecturers in the Department of Criminal Justice and look forward to expanding their support to the university in any way possible. "I would really like to see the relationship between JSU and the academy get stronger," says Glaze. "We depend on JSU a lot and I'd like to see us give more back."

Glaze began his career in law enforcement as a student worker in the police department in 1985. In 1988, he became a full-time officer of the University Police Department and continued with this job until beginning his career at the academy in 2000.
