Little River Canyon National Preserve to Celebrate National Junior Ranger Day at Canyon Center and DeSoto State Park

Little River Canyon National Preserve will Celebrate National Junior Ranger Day on Saturday, April 25 in conjunction with DeSoto State Park and the Little River Canyon Center.

Park rangers will offer programs at 9 a.m. at the Little River Canyon Center, 10:30 a.m. at the DeSoto State Park Nature Center and a program and hike at 2 p.m. at Little River Canyon Center. National Park Junior Ranger booklets may be picked up at Little River Canyon Center all day. You may earn both a DeSoto State Park Junior Ranger and Little River Canyon Junior Ranger status on this day at the 10:30 am and 2 p.m. programs.

This is a special event, as it marks the Little River Canyon Center's debut with the Junior Ranger Programs. We want to encourage families to come enjoy the park and become Junior Rangers. People completing activities in the activity book earn badges and a certificate.

Junior Rangers is a National Park Service program that provides educational activities for young people in the national parks. The young people who complete the activities receive pins, buttons, patches or badges and a certificate for completing their activities.

For this event, participants are encouraged to bring water, good hiking shoes, field guide books, and a snack.
