On March 28, Jacksonville State University's most famous alumnus came home to visit with old friends and new fans at On the Brink, JSU's annual conference for emerging writers.

Randy Owen, former front-man for the country music mega-group Alabama and a solo artist and author in his own right, also serves on the university's board of trustees. His appearance at On the Brink gave him the opportunity to spend time with fans and talk about his autobiography, Born Country, and his solo cd, One on One.

At the end of the evening, Owen donated $21,000 in scholarship money to his alma mater. JSU President Dr. Bill Meehan and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Rebecca Turner accepted the gift on behalf of the university.
