Two Free EEOC Workshops
Scheduled for All Businesses

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will present two FREE workshops for all business owners or representatives on April 23 and May 7. The workshops are co-sponsored by the Small Business Administration, Jacksonville State Small Business Development Center (SBDC), The Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, and The Chamber - Gadsden/Etowah County.

The April 23 workshop will be at the Calhoun Chamber from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. and will be repeated, on the same day, at the Gadsden Chamber from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. It will include an overview of EEOC laws with a concentration on the Americans with Disabilities Act, including the Amendments Act which became effective January 1, 2009, employer responsibilities, charge filing, and investigative processes.

The May 7 workshop will be at the Calhoun Chamber from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. and will be repeated, on the same day, at the Gadsden Chamber from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. It will involve a discussion of the most frequently alleged employment actions/violations (discipline, discharge, harassment, promotion, wages, etc.), how to respond if a charge is filed against your company, and an example of an effective anti-harassment policy.

Seating is limited so ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. To register, call the SBDC office at (256) 782-5271.
