Chili Cook-Off for Tubas

Have you ever wondered just how good your Chili is? Well, come on out to the front porch area of Mason Hall (Music Building) on Friday, April 3 between 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and put it to the test.

The JSU student chapter of the International Tuba Euphonium Association (ITEA) will sponsor a chili-cook off on that date, complete with a panel of judges to see who has the best chili. There are prizes to be won for first second and third place. There will also be recognition of Most Unique, Hottest, and the People’s Choice Awards.

All Guests are welcome to bring a pot of their best chili. There is a $10 dollar entry fee to be collected at the event for competitors, and tasters can pay $3 to sample the chili. Power outlets and tables will be provided. All guests wishing to enter their chili into the contest need to be at the chili cook-off between 11-11:30 a.m. Judging will take place at noon.

The local student ITEA chapter sponsors events for the tuba, the euphonium, the music department and the community, including bringing in guest artists from all over the world. In Fall 2008, the group hosted the third annual Octubafest with guest artist Oystein Baadsvik, tuba artist from Norway.
