Addressing Enrollment Declines
Through International Partnerships
April 2, 2009

Dr. Andy Ciganek, Department of Mathematical Computing Info Systems at Jacksonville State University, will share the findings of his research on "Addressing Enrollment Declines Through International Partnerships" at the April Academe meeting to be held in 1101 C, Houston Cole Library, at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 2.

According to Dr. Ciganek, "The enrollment declines in information systems (IS) related fields of the past sever years has led to research that has examined the causes of it and a variety of possible approaches to reverse this trend. With the recent economic downturn resulting in cuts in education budgets, the need to increase enerollments in IS has become cricital."

Dr. Ciganek will share information on how international partnerships offer a means to move these enrollments into a positive direction. He will focus on the partnership between an IS department in the Southeastern United States and some Asian universities.
