Sociology Club to Host Congo Teach-In

The JSU Sociology Club is hosting a Congo-Teach In presented by Dr. Tina Deshotels. The Teach-In is a presentation about the crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The purpose is to educate you, your campuses and communities about the history and current situation in the DRC where women are bearing the brunt of the vicious war in the region. The presentation gives specific tools designed to motivate the public to put pressure on elected officials and raise awareness and funds for V-Day projects on the ground in the DRC.

The Teach-In will be on March 25 at 5 p.m. in the Houston Cole Library. There is no admission charge.

Tina Deshotels is an assistant professor of sociology at JSU. Her speciality areas of research are theory, gender and deviance. She is faculty advisor for the student group WISE and JSU students for equality.
