Softball Game vs. Samford Postponed Due to Severe Weather Threat

From JSU Sports Information

JACKSONVILLE -- The Jacksonville State softball team's game against Samford on Wednesday has been postponed due to the threat of severe weather across the state. The game will be rescheduled at a later date.

The continuation of the Gamecocks' biggest Rivalry in the Ohio Valley Conference until the Bulldogs bolted for the Southern Conference after last season was scheduled for 5 p.m., but will be played at a later time because of a line of storms that are threatening both the Birmingham and Jacksonville areas throughout the day.

The National Weather Service forecast says that thunderstorms with damaging straight-line winds of up to 25 to 35 mile per hour could move through the area this afternoon. More information about the future date of the game will be made available on www.jsugamecocksports.com when the game is rescheduled.

The Gamecocks (3-2) will return to the diamond on Feb. 18, when they travel to Macon, Ga., for a doubleheader against former Atlantic Sun Conference foe Mercer. The first game is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT.
