The JSU drama department is hosting a film and play festival on March 11, 2014 in Leone Cole auditorium. They are looking for entries now in the form of short films or plays.
This is the perfect opportunity to showcase an artistic side by getting a group of friends or members of your student organization together to shoot a film or write and direct a play.
The deadline to register is February 20 and all materials must be submitted by March 4. Entry forms are online on the drama department webpage.
“We at the drama department wanted to find a way to reach out to the university and broaden the number of performances available on campus. We also think that this is a wonderful opportunity for student organizations to show their ability and talent.
“Through the festival, we hope to celebrate the creativity of the university community as a whole,” said Drama department head Randy Blades.
Bo Bailey, a junior majoring in broadcasting with a minor in film studies, is debuting at least one film at the festival. He and the JSU film club will be presenting a short film titled "The Funmakers."
According to Bailey, "The Funmakers" is, “the story of a quiet guy who gets a dead end job at a video arcade in hopes of meeting the beautiful girl who works at the coffee stand outside. He learns a life-long lesson from a young boy filled with determination
to win an RC Car."
Admission to the festival is free, and awards will be given out in areas including best film, best play, and best performance.
