About Us

Mission Statement

In recognizing our sense of place corresponding with the longstanding harms of racism on our communities, particularly communities of color, the JSU Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Center has a moral and ethical calling to lead the campus community in efforts to dismantle the system of racism by creating a campus that respects and values humans equally.

Vision Statement

We feel a calling to model civic engagement through empowering marginalized groups of color, and helping privileged-white groups become accountable toward dismantling systems of oppression. In taking into account the history of civil rights in proximity to JSU, our vision would be to further facilitate: education and awareness, dialogue, and civic engagement. Our efforts would help cultivate a campus and community that is critically informed and active in fostering racial equity as ethical values and practices.
