Associate Professor/Post-Master's DNP Track Coordinator

Dr. Leigh Ann Keith came to Jacksonville State University (JSU) in 2011. She was previously adjunct faculty at the University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing. Her teaching experience at JSU includes the undergraduate, STEP, and MSN programs within the Department of Nursing. She is currently teaching in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) graduate nursing program and serves as the Post-Master’s DNP Track Coordinator. Her responsibilities include online educational instruction, course and program development, mentoring and Faculty Chair for DNP Projects. Dr. Keith has been the recipient of the CARE aware in 2015 and 2017 for the Department of Nursing. Dr. Keith participated in the Faculty Mentor Program from 2015-2016 at JSU. She is currently a member of Sigma Theta Tau, The Alabama League of Nursing and the National League of Nursing. In 2019 Dr. Keith was inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Dr. Keith was the co-developer of the DNP mentor program at the University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing (CCN) in 2012. Dr. Keith served on the Board of Director’s for Lakeside Hospice in Alabama from 2011-2017.

Academic/Research Interests

Dr. Keith completed a descriptive study for her Capstone Project entitled, "Improving Influenza Immunization Rates Through a Specialized Clinic Review." This manuscript was published in 2012 in the Journal of Community Health Nursing. Dr. Keith co-authored research projects entitled, "The Efficacy of a Doctor of Nursing Practice Mentoring Program" and “Evaluating Student Learning through Collaborative Testing in a Psychiatric Mental Health Course". Both manuscripts were published in the Journal of Doctoral Nursing Practice formerly titled the Clinical Scholars Review. Her research has been presented at state and national levels.
