Arlinda Wormely, DNP, MPA, FNP-BC
Assistant Professor of Nursing
Dr. Wormely is recognized by her peers as a leader in the area of women’s health care. Additionally, Dr. Wormely’s medical experience includes medical-surgical nursing, orthopedics, and psychiatry. Dr. Wormely earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1993 from Jacksonville State University. After spending time in medical-surgical nursing, Dr. Wormely returned to Jacksonville State University and earned her Master of Public Administration Degree with a concentration in Education in 1997 which began a career of lifelong learning. Dr. Wormely continued her career in both medical-surgical and public health nursing. It is in public health that the love for women’s health care began. In 2000, Dr. Wormely earned her Master of Science Degree in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Wormely is a board-certified FNP. In 2011, Dr. Wormely returned to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree completing a scholarly project focusing on telemedicine in women’s health care. Dr. Wormely joined the faculty of JSU in 2017 and currently serves on the Department of Nursing Graduate Council, in addition to secretary of the same, Faculty Senate, Faculty Honors Committee, and advisor for the Graduate Student Nursing Association. Dr. Wormely received the ALPHA (Alabama Public Health Association) Award/Nursing Excellence Award in 2014 and the Faculty Research Award from JSU in 2019. Dr. Wormely maintains a faculty practice at St. Clair Community Health Clinic in Pell City.
She resides in Leeds, Alabama with her husband of 20 years and their two daughters.
