Dr. Glenn Roswal Named President Elect of AAHPERD


Jacksonville, AL -- July 6, 2000 -- Dr. Glenn Roswal, Professor of Physical Education at Jacksonville State University, has recently been named the President Elect of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD).

AAHPERD is the largest organization of professionals supporting and assisting those in physical education, leisure, fitness, dance, health promotion, education and all specialties related to achieving a healthy lifestyle.

The Alliance consists of six national associations, six district associations, and a Research Consortium. Established in 1885, AAHPERD serves 26,000 national members and 30,000 state affiliate members with the headquarters in Reston, Virginia. Dr. Roswal previously served as President of the Southern District of AAHPERD and the Alabama AHPERD.

Dr. Roswal has been a faculty member at JSU since 1978, serving as a Professor of Physical Education, Recreation and Health. He received his BS from JSU, his MA from the University of Florida and his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland.

Dr. Roswal has also served on the Board of Directors for the National Easter Seal Society, Easter Seal Society of Alabama, Special Olympics Alabama, and the National Consortium for Physical Education and Recreation for the Disabled. He has also served as Chair of the Board of Directors for Camp ASCCA-Easter Seals and the Dixie Wheelchair Athletic Association.
