JSU's Kristian Crowe in Top Ten of Miss Alabama Pageant

Kristian Crowe, left, Miss Jacksonville State University, was a preliminary talent winner and was named in the Top Ten of the Miss Alabama Pageant.  This marks the first time that JSU has had a contestant in the Top Ten since Heather Whitestone in 1992.  Pictured, from left, with Kristian Crowe are Shannon Camper, Miss Alabama 2004; Deidre Downs, Miss America 2005; and Kelly Hawkins, who competed as Miss Gadsden Area, preliminary swimsuit winner.

Kristian was crowned Miss JSU in January and worked for the past six months preparing for the week.   Kristian will receive approximately $3000 in scholarship monies as a result of participating in the Miss Alabama Pageant.

Alexa Jones, representing the Miss Mobile Pageant went on to win the competition and will compete as Miss Alabama in the Miss America Pagant later this year.

Two other JSU students competed this year but did not place: Elizabeth Fairley, who competed as Miss West Central Alabama, and Deanna Dewberry, who competed as Miss Chattahoochee Valley.
