Estefania Cuevas Wilcox
Introduction to Music & JSU Music Academy (Voice)
Mrs. Wilcox has also enjoyed the performance of opera during her vocal studies, including the roles of Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Juliette in Romeo et Juliette, Fiordiligi in Cosi Fan Tutte, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, and Jenny in Ned Rorem’s Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters. She has been named second-place prize winner through the Birmingham Music Guild scholarship competition, as well as winning first and second place through both state and regional NATS competitions.
Mrs. Wilcox believes in the positive influence of music in a community, both through teaching and performance. During her time in Albuquerque, she served as a community outreach liaison for Opera Southwest, performing at local venues alongside lectures to promote the art form of opera. She currently enjoys teaching private voice and piano students at different locations in Calhoun County and working alongside Dr. Wendy Freeland to re-establish a community-based music academy to enhance the education of local children through quality music instruction at the David L. Walters Department of Music.
