Show Choir Camp

What to Expect

Over the span of a week, contemporary style singing with choreography will be taught to participants. Solo singing, choral singing, and dance will be emphasized as students work towards a themed show for performance by week’s end. Music reading is not required as students will be taught basic music reading skills through keyboard instruction. The Show Choir Camp will be led by experienced music faculty and graduate assistants.

Important music skills to be developed include:

Vocal warm-ups and vocal technique geared towards one’s unique voice (solo singing) as well as singing with others (vocal ensemble)
Dance/movement stylistically gleaned from modern, jazz, hip-hop, and pop genres
Music reading using the keyboard as the launch pad
Coordination of healthy singing while dancing to present a crowd-pleasing performance
