No, we will not correct your errors for you.

Our goal is to help you become a better writer by learning how to identify and correct areas you struggle in. By simply correcting your errors for you that process cannot occur.

Yes, we accept walk-ins; however, to guarantee you will be able to work with a consultant we ask that you make an appointment.

Yes, you can choose your consultant. You can learn about each consultant's specialty on the Writing Center Staff page.

While many students enjoy meeting with the same consultant in order to build a rapport with that individual, this may not always be possible depending on consultant demand and availability.

Consultations are 30 minutes long.

You are allowed to schedule two Writing Center consultations each week.

While yes you are allowed to do back-to-back consultations, we do not suggest this for two reasons.

  • Reason 1: This does not allow you time to work on your writing between consultations.
  • Reason 2: This will use-up all of your allotted consultations for that week.

Writing Center works with anyone in the Jacksonville State University Community on their writing. While some teachers give credit to or require students for attending Writing Center Consultations, consultations are not typically a course requirement.

Writing Studio Mentors work with students in specific classes (either EH 105/115 or EH 106/116) to which they are assigned. Writing Studio Mentor sessions are requirements in order to pass these classes. You will need to make appointments with your assigned Mentor for these to count.

Student Success Center Tutoring provide content-specific supplemental instruction.
