The Department Head is a full-time administrator, who provides intellectual leadership toward achieving excellence in teaching, research, service, administration, and accreditation activities. This position articulates the department’s needs, is the primary source of information about specific programs and daily operations and implements change to assure program quality. The Department Head supervises faculty in the respective department.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of professional experience and expertise in Education, Counseling, Leadership, etc.
- Experience in higher education as a department chair, director, program coordinator, or comparable leadership position required.
- Terminal degree in a field represented by a program area in CEPS.
- Current rank of full or associate professor at an institution of higher learning required.
- Experience with state and national accreditation processes required.
- Experience in using online instructional delivery systems required.
- Experience in working with credentialing programs applicable to the programs within the department required.
- Experience evaluating and mentoring faculty and managing other personnel required.
- Evidence of effective teaching in higher education settings, including working with adult and non-traditional learners required.
