Early Childhood (P-3) Alternative A Master's Program
The Early Childhood Alternative A Program is designed for you if: you want to teach in Pre-K - 3rd Grade and you have a previous degree in an academic discipline other than education. Eligibility for the Alternative-A Program includes a 2.75 GPA in the previously earned undergraduate degree, completion of ED 300, advisement in the Teacher Education Services Center, and satisfaction of any undergraduate deficiencies as required by the ALSDE code.
- Blended approach with face-to-face courses on campus, clinical experiences in local P-3 classrooms, and online courses
- Methods courses include early literacy, reading, and writing
- Clinical experiences include settings appropriate to multiple early childhood age ranges: Birth-3, 3-5, 5-8.
- Specialty courses include 21st century teaching and learning, diversity in today's classroom, and issues and trends in early childhood
When you complete the Early Childhood Alternative A Program, you are eligible for an Alabama Teacher Class A Certification in Early Childhood (P-3).
