Victim Services Fund Application
The following form allows students the opportunity to request funds from the OVW Victim Services Fund if they have been impacted by dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking.
Information submitted on the form is sent only to Julie Nix, Director of Counseling Services.
The JSU Victim Assistance Fund will be used to address documented gaps in the system of services for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. We have experienced cases in which victims have been unable to pay for services, such as housing relocation or medical copays related to the crimes mentioned above. The Victim Assistance Funds will be utilized if other victim resources are unavailable or cannot be accessed in a timely manner (other resources might include 2nd Chance, Inc. and the Alabama Crime Victim's Compensation Fund). Each request will be evaluated on an individual basis and subject to availability of funds.
Criteria is based on including the following as approved costs: medications and copays, medical/counseling appointments and copays, transportation costs associated with medical appointments and if needed for victims to return home, housing and utility deposits if a victim needs relocation, and replacement of school supplies (including textbooks) if loss is a result of sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, or stalking. There is also a demonstrated need to provide costs for childcare associated with sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. The following items are excluded from funding: tuition reimbursement, lost wages, and home security monitoring purchases.
