Communication: Public Relations

Public Relation Students

Public relations is a strategic communication process that builds mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and their publics. This is the description of public relations from the Public Relations Society of America. In the Department of Communication, we believe that Public Relations is the art and science of reputation management. Through transparent means, we train our future public relations professionals to inform clients and other stakeholders of important news and future plans of their clients, whether not-for-profit or for-profit institutions. This is accomplished by the maintenance of relationships with journalists and the media, and the management and timely dissemination of information.
