Dr. Shah’s areas of specialization include Journalism and Health Communication. His primary research focuses on two main areas: 1) exploring the individual, routine, organizational, and policy-level factors that influence journalists’ coverage of different issues; 2) examining the use of new and emerging media for improved health outcomes.  Before joining the academy, Dr. Shah worked as a journalist for some of the leading media organizations of Pakistan and the U.S. He is currently serving as a co-chair of Communications Committee of the Health Communication Working Group of American Public Health Association.
