Here is a partial list of video programs recently produced by Television Services:
- Television Services produces LIVE television coverage of all JSU graduation commencement exercises. These broadcasts are transmitted live on TV24, and via streaming on the Internet. Webcast archives are available for two weeks after each commencement event. Please visit our graduation webcast page for more information.
- JSU's home football games and other athletic events are broadcast to numerous cable systems throughout central Alabama and western Georgia over WJXS-TV24. These events are produced with JSU students and local broadcasting professionals working side by side.
- "JSU Today" is a promotional show featuring people, places, and events that center around the university. This show airs weekly on TV24 and is available for download on iTunes U via our featured video page.
- "Inside Gamecock Athletics" is a close-up look at Jacksonville State University Athletics, featuring game highlights and interviews with coaches and players. The program is hosted by "The Voice of the Gamecocks," Mike Parris. The program airs weekly on WJXS-TV24, and statewide on the Alabama Cable Network - channel 80 on Charter Cable systems. - Television Services produced the recruiting video, "My JSU." This DVD is broken into 16 separate videos about JSU ranging from an introductory overview to specifics such as Financial Aid and Housing. This DVD is presented by JSU Recruiters to high school students in surrounding states, and is given to prospective students through the Office of Admissions, the Visitor's Center, and during Preview Days.
- The Career Placement Services DVD, "My Career, My Success, My JSU" is being used by the CPS Office to aid graduating high school students, JSU students, and employers. The video is shown at CPS workshops and in the CPS Office.
- The fundraising video, "The Power of 125…Join the Celebration" was a $25-million effort to support all five colleges of Jacksonville State University, was also a time of renewed commitment of JSU's ability to meet the needs of students seeking an academic education, and provide cultural and service contributions benefiting the citizens of northeast Alabama. Television Services won a Telly Award for this program.
- DVDs of The English Language Institute's video, "Right For You!" have been distributed worldwide. ELI is a non-credit institute to assist non-native English speakers who want to learn English for academic and professional purposes. For more information visit: www.jsu.edu/eli.
- A long form video, "Equal Access in the Classroom," and two PSAs (public service announcements) were produced for the Described and Captioned Media Program. The DCMP video is available to school teachers and parents of individuals with disabilities that are interested in captioned media. The PSAs have been made available to television stations nationwide. The DCMP worked through Disability Support Services at JSU to coordinate the production with Television Services. - The SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) event held at Ohatchee High School was taped for The Northeast Alabama Center for Community Initiatives (a non-profit organization). DVDs of the program, "The Night I Died," will be shown in Calhoun County area high schools to discourage underage drinking. Two PSAs were also produced from this project. - We also produce commercials on a regular basis that promote the university. These commercials air locally and regionally during sporting events and other JSU programming.
