In order to produce a quality program, Television Services must know details such as script, taping locations, narration, special editing requirements, type of music best suited to the project, target audience, and the desired reaction to be evoked from the audience; these important aspects should be ascertained before production begins. To better help Television Services understand the project requirements, persons requesting production services should complete a production request form available from our contact information page.
The following criteria will be used to evaluate production requests. Video projects performed by Television Services will be those that:
- Provide significant support to one or more academic or non-academic departments at JSU.
- Promote a positive public image for JSU.
- Provide a public service that is consistent with the goals and objectives of JSU.
- Provide, when practical, projects for training purposes for Communication students.
Television Services productions are provided as a service to the academic and non-academic departments of JSU. The only charges that a JSU client may be required to pay would be for incurred supplies (such as the cost of video tapes, DVD media, copies, etc.), or for extra crew, travel, overtime, or any other agreed-upon, additional requirements that are not covered in the Television Services operating budget.
When a request for an advanced video is received, a systematic procedure is set in motion. An advanced video would be a project requiring more than a single videotaping session, the use of more than one camera, and editing. Please see our production outline for an overview of the production process - from request to finished product.
