English Placement

All entering students who have not successfully completed or been awarded credit for EH 101, and will not submit scores from the ACT/SAT for English placement are required to take English EdReady.

Students who have submitted ACT/SAT scores will be placed according to their English subtest score.  Please note that any student admitted with an ACT English subtest score of 17 or below, or SAT of 420 or below will automatically be placed into EH 100 unless they achieve a score of 90+ on the English EdReady study path.  Please see our English course placement chart below for clarification of test score/placement requirements.

  • Any student who does not automatically qualify for EH 101 that achieves a score of 90+ on the English EdReady study path will be allowed to place into EH 101 rather than EH 100, thus saving time and money!

We welcome all incoming students to utilize English EdReady, a free college readiness tool, and work to a recommended score of 90 or above. English EdReady provides an excellent review for students.

Note:  English EdReady does not have to be taken on campus. You may access English EdReady anytime through MyJSU by clicking the “Placement Exams” link on your MyJSU homepage.
