Contributions to the Alabama Advantage for Retirees Program

I helped to develop the statewide program which is the only one in the nation within state government. It is becoming a model for other states. I provided assistance in:

Developing the Alabama Brochure for retiree recruitment now placed in the Alabama Welcome Centers around the state.

Collecting data on infrastructure in the 94 communities in Alabama that are participating in the program.

Establishing Retiree Attraction Committees in these communities and helping them to begin marketing their communities.

Developing a matching grant program by ADECA for communities to print retirement brochures.

Producing the Guidebook for Retiring in Alabama which contains detailed information about retiring in Alabama and information about the 94 participating communities.

Planning and coordinating four annual Governor's Conferences on Attracting Retirees.

Developing a nation-wide advertising campaign in 177 Mature Market Newspapers to attract retirees to Alabama.

Developing a community cooperative advertising campaign for attracting retirees.

Generating 20,000 inquiries about retirement in Alabama.
