Yes. Even though you may not use federal aid for ExSEL, you must have the paperwork completed for the Fall semester. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to complete financial aid paperwork.

I am conditionally-admitted to JSU. Do I still have to go through ExSEL?

Top

Conditionally-admitted (CA) students are not required to go through the ExSEL program; however, they are encouraged to apply. The program gives these students skills-building needed to be successful in the fall semester. Preference is given to those students who are required to take the program, but each year several CA students do complete the program.

I was not eligible for the ExSEL Program. What are my options?

Top

Students who are not eligible for the ExSEL program have the option of retaking the ACT and scoring 17 or retaking the SAT and scoring 830 or above. Students also have the option of attending a community college and completing 24 transferable hours.
