Dear Faculty, Staff, Students, Alumni, and Friends:

The most important achievement for a University is to improve the quality of the educational experience for its students.  Jacksonville State University is in the final stages of preparation for its accreditation visit by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), Commission on Colleges.  Accreditation signifies that the University has an appropriate mission, resources, programs and services sufficient to accomplish its purpose in higher education.

Approximately 120 administrators, faculty, staff and students have been actively involved in the self-study process. Our visiting team will be chaired by Dr. Sherry Hoppe, President of Austin Peay State University. Dr. Hoppe and 13 additional visitors from the Southern Region will be on our campus February 24 - 27 to access our compliance with the COC accreditation criteria.

I hope you will use this web site to learn more about the JSU self-study.  The who, what, where, and when are all here at your fingertips.  Remember the ultimate achievement of our mission is to improve the quality in which we - educate our students, provide service to the community, and generate knowledge through research and scholarly activities.

I thank each of you for the commitment you have made to ensure that our self-study is a continuous and successful process.  Please know that your contributions to Jacksonville State University are appreciated.

Sincerely,

William A. Meehan

President
