CPT Floyd M. Sawdy

CPT Sawdy is a graduate of Arkansas Tech University, class of 2002, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.  In September 2005, CPT Sawdy enlisted in the Army as a 15R (Apache Crew Chief) and was assigned to D/3/159 in Illeshiem Germany.  

In 2008, CPT Sawdy attended Officer Candidate School, Basic Officer Leader’s Course II, Infantry Basic Officer Leader’s Course, Ranger School, and Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA.  Following his training, CPT Sawdy moved to Joint Base Lewis-McCord, Washington.  Upon arrival, CPT Sawdy was selected to be the Platoon Leader for 1st Platoon, Chaos Company (Unleash the Chaos), 1-38 Infantry Regiment.  In September 2009, CPT Sawdy deployed with 4-2 SBCT to Abu Ghraib, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After returning home, CPT Sawdy was selected to be the Executive Officer for Alpha Company, 1-38 Infantry Regiment. In addition to his Executive Officer duties, CPT Sawdy led his company in establishing and supporting Warrior Forge for the ROTC cadets.

In April 2012, CPT Sawdy graduated from the Logistic Captain’s Career Course.  Most recently, he completed the Civil Affairs Qualification Course at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. 


CPT Sawdy’s awards and certificates include the Army Commendation Medal with three Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Achievement Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; Distinguished Honor Graduate (Aviation School); Cum Laude (College), and Salutatorian (High School).
