Cathy graduated with honors from JSU with a Bachelor's of Science in Criminal Justice in April 1995. She also earned her Master's degree in Elementary Education at JSU in April 2004.

Cathy is a retired SFC/E7 from the Alabama Army National Guard where she held the position of PAC NCOIC, Personnel Training Sergeant for the 200th Regiment Leadership Brigade at Fort McClellan, AL. She has taught seventh and fifth grades in public schools, and G.E.D. classes for the former Alabama Youth Challenge.
