CPT Carroll was commissioned from Officer Candidate School in 2005 and completed the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in 2006. CPT Carroll's first assignment was to the 1St Brigade 1st Armored Division in Giessen, Germany, with whom he deployed with to Operation Iraq freedom in 2006-07 as a Fire Support Officer for C 1/36 IN. After the deployment 1/1 AD cased its colors and CPT Carroll was assigned to C 1/94 FA (MLRS) 1 AD DIVARTY in Idar-Oberstien Germany as a platoon leader. He deployed with 1-94 FA to Romania in fall 2007 as part of Operation Proof of Principle to assist Romanian Army units train for their deployment to OIF. In the summer of 2008 when 1/94 FA cased its colors CPT Carroll was reassigned to the 172nd Infantry Brigade in Grafenwhoer, Germany where he deployed to OIF in 08-09 as the assistant Brigade FSO and later as the A/S3 to 1-77 FA. Upon redeployment CPT Carroll attended the Field Artillery Captains Career Course at Fort Sill, and was then assigned to 3rd Brigade 1st Armored Division in Fort Bliss, TX. CPT Carroll held the positions of S4, and A/S3 with 4-1 FA as well as Squadron FSO with 1-13 CAV. In fall 2011 CPT Carroll deployed with 3-1 AD to Operation Enduring Freedom, and shortly thereafter took command of Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 4th Battalion 1st Field Artillery Regiment. CPT Carroll commanded HHB 4-1 FA through the unit's deployment to Afghanistan and its redeployment changing out of command in Spring of 2013.
CPT Carroll holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The Ohio State University. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, three Army Commendation Medals; the Army Achievement Medal; Iraqi Campaign Medal; Afghan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; and NATO ISAF Medal.
