» If You Smell a Strange Odor
- Evacuate the immediate area.
- Turn off all air conditioners and heaters when leaving, if it is safe to do so.
- From a safe location, call JSU Police Department at ext. 6000 or 256-782-6000 and report the odor. Be as specific as possible about the nature of the odor:
- When was it first noticed?
- Is it recognizable?
- Is the cause known?
- Remain outside until told it is safe to re-enter the building.
- If additional assistance is needed, University Police will notify the proper departments.
