Jacksonville State University (JSU) is located between two large cities in the Southeast: Atlanta, Georgia and Birmingham, Alabama.

People traveling to JSU by plane use the airports in Atlanta or Birmingham. There is no regular airline service between these airports and Jacksonville. After arriving in these airports you must first travel by bus or "limousine" to a location close to the University. Most people traveling alone prefer to fly to Atlanta and travel by bus to the University because the transportation service is generally better from Atlanta than from Birmingham. However, directions are provided from both airports.
 

Traveling from Atlanta Hartsfield Airport to Anniston, Alabama.

There is a Greyhound Bus Station at the Atlanta International Airport.  A bus leaves from the airport 4 times daily arriving in Anniston, AL.  Currently, tickets for the bus to Anniston are $25.25.  Once you arrive in Anniston, call us at 782-5303 or 782-5674, and we will pick you up and bring you to JSU.  Contact us well in advance, if possible and let us know when you will arrive.  If you arrive after 4:00 PM or on a weekend, please call a taxi to take you to a hotel for the night.  We will be able to pick you up the next morning.

Traveling from Birmingham Airport to Anniston, Alabama.

If you arrive in Birmingham International Airport, go to the Airport Express (205-591-7770) for a bus ride to Anniston, Alabama.  They have a desk at the airport.  The bus leaves at 7:00AM, 11:00AM and 5:00 PM.  Tell them you need a bus ticket to Anniston, Alabama.  When they drop you off in Anniston, call me at 782-5674 or 782-5303, and I will be able to pick you up and bring you to JSU.  If you arrive after 4:00 PM, or on the weekend, please call a taxi to take you to a hotel.  Call us the next morning and we will pick you up.

Travel by Car to the JSU CampusThere are two major routes of travel to the JSU campus.

For persons traveling through Atlanta, GA or Birmingham, AL the most direct route is to take I-20 to the Anniston/Oxford exit and travel north on Route 21 for about 15 miles (24 km) to the City of Jacksonville. The University is located less than one mile farther north of the town square. The 11 floor Houston Cole Library will be on your right and across the street will be Bibb Graves Hall.

For those traveling from Chattanooga, TN on I-59, exit at the city of Gadsden, AL and take Route 431 south for about 15 miles (24 km) until it intersects Route 204, then turn left and drive for another 10 miles (16 km) until it intersects Route 21. This location is the north part of the JSU Campus. If you turn right and drive one block you will see the Houston Cole Library on your immediate left and Bibb Graves Hall on your right.
