We're so glad that JSU is Where You're Going .

Nontraditional students

Nontraditional students are typically a little older than traditional students and often have jobs and/or families. Finding time to take care of your responsibilities and go to school is challenging. JSU provides nontraditional students with many scheduling options, including online classes, evening classes and in some cases, weekend classes. For Etowah County students, we even offer classes at Gadsden State Community College. Take a look at the videos below to find out how we can help you succeed at JSU. We're glad you chose JSU to help you take the next step in your life.

Transfer Students

Welcome transfer students! We're so glad you chose JSU to continue your education. Whether you've attended a community college, 4-year university or a combination of several schools, you will fit right in at JSU. We welcome more than 650 first-time transfer students every fall term. Many of our transfer students commute from home to JSU. However, we hope that you'll take advantage of the many student activities available on campus. "Get involved" is the advice most offered by seasoned JSU students. We are the Friendliest Campus in the South, so it's easy to do! Find out more by watching the videos on the menu and to your right.

Online Courses

More than one-third of all JSU students take at least one distance education course each semester. It's part of making advancing your education convenient and flexible given your busy schedule. Most of JSU's distance education courses are offered online, using state of the art technologies that ensure you learn and stay on track. Use the resources available on the Distance Education website to ensure you are a fit for online courses. They require discipline and the ability to self-start. If you choose Distance Education, JSU has a 24-hour help desk, tutorials, and responsive faculty to ensure you succeed. Welcome to Distance Education at JSU! It's where you're going.

International Students

International students make up more than 230 of JSU's student population. Representing more than 70 countries from around the world, you'll find international students in just about every major at JSU. JSU's international outreach began in 1946 when our international house program began. The International House emphasizes cultural exchange by housing 20 American and 20 international students together. JSU also offers the English Language Institute, which helps non-native English speakers learn English in a residential setting. JSU also has agreements with several universities in China, France, Italy, Morocco, India and other countries. JSU is where you're going for international experiences!
