  • The Certified Online Instructor Course (COI) has two distinct parts:
    • Part 1: Teaching Online
    • Part 2: Designing & Building an Online Course
  • The COI typically lasts 7 to 8 weeks in duration, however, extensions for faculty do occur. During the COI, faculty learn best practices in teaching online, how to leverage Canvas tools to teach online, and how to design and build an effective online course that meets industry standards in online course quality.
  • To pass the course, an instructor must complete an entire course build and pass a course build assessment using the Quality Matters rubric.
  • Those who complete the COI will receive a Certificate of Completion.
