Strategic planning is a complex, ongoing process JSU uses to identify and maintain alignment with the most important elements in our environment. The environment consists of the political, social, economic, technological, and educational systems, both internal and external to JSU. The strategic planning process is future oriented and consists of visioning, creating a mission statement, gap analysis, environmental scans, trend analysis, strategy development, and benchmarking. All sectors of the university have an opportunity to contribute to the strategic plan through peer representation or by directly responding to on-line surveys.
