Admissions Procedure

Students are admitted into Jacksonville State University through the University Admissions Office. Applications may be secured and filed with this office. In addition, official transcripts of previous course work should be sent to the Registrar's Office, Jacksonville State University, 700 Pelham Road North, Jacksonville, Alabama, 36265-1602. Courses in the professional component of our B.S.N. program are delivered through Internet. After completion of general studies requirements, nursing courses may be completed in one calendar year online.

Entrance into the upper division of nursing requires that the student has

  • Been admitted to Jacksonville State University with all current transcripts on file
  • Been individually advised, since each may have different educational needs
  • Unencumbered current registered nurse license in the United States
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA on prerequisite courses
  • Completion of all prerequisite and general studies coursework with a "C" or better
  • Evidence of successful completion of a United States accredited diploma or associate degree nursing program

Deadline for Admission to the STEP program:

  • Fall Semester- Deadline is August 1st
  • Spring Semester- Deadline is December 1st
  • Summer Semester- Deadline is April 1st
