The 2008 inductees into the Jacksonville State University Teacher Hall of Fame were recognized in the Teacher Hall of Fame Awards Banquet held on Friday May 30, 2008. The three inductees were selected from a total of fifteen nominees chosen as finalists.  The finalists were grouped into three categories with a winner being selected from each category.  Categories for the Teacher Hall of Fame include elementary school, middle school, and secondary school divisions.

Jacksonville State initiated the Teacher Hall of Fame in 1969 to recognize and honor outstanding classroom teachers throughout the state of Alabama.  No preference is given to nominees who may have attended Jacksonville State University.  To date, eighty-one teachers from the public school systems of Alabama have been inducted into this organization.  These "Hall of Famers" represent the county school systems of Baldwin, Calhoun, Coffee, Covington, Cullman, Etowah, Jefferson, Lowndes, Mobile, Shelby, Talladega, and Tuscaloosa.

Each school system in Alabama is eligible to nominate one elementary, one middle, and one secondary teacher.  Public School System educators are invited to participate in JSU's Teacher Hall of Fame program.
