Transfer Honor Society Supports Toys for Tots

12/10/2018

JSU’s transfer student honor society, Tau Sigma, raised more than $400 to provide toys to local children in need this holiday season through Toys for Tots. President Rebecca Herzberg and her peers worked hard to organize candle fundraisers and placed jars around Jacksonville to collect change for the organization.

In April 2018, more than 20 students were named to the inaugural group of JSU transfer students to be inducted into Tau Sigma, a nationally recognized honor society for transfer students. To be eligible for membership, applicants must be enrolled full-time and obtain a 3.5 or higher GPA after their first semester at their transfer institution.

Tau Sigma was incorporated as a non-profit in 1999 with Auburn University being the home of the first chapter in an effort to better serve, recruit and retain transfer students. Since then, the honor society has grown to 175 chapters in universities across the nation. For information on joining the JSU chapter, contact advisor Roxanne Bailey at rbailey2@jsu.edu
