JSU Professor’s Textbook Gains Second Edition

Dr. Jeff Ryan, Jacksonville State University professor of emergency management, has had the second edition of his textbook, Biosecurity and Bioterrorism published by Elsevier.

A retired Army Lieutenant Colonel, Ryan specializes in preparedness, bioterrorism response, and Homeland Security. He holds a Ph.D. in medical and veterinary entomology from North Carolina State University, an M.S. in biomedical sciences from Hood College, and a B.S. in entomology from Syracuse University.

Of Ryan’s work, Bret Atkins of the Journal of Homeland Security and Emergency Management stated, "Ryan and Glarum have produced a reference document appropriate for the libraries of emergency planners and managers, public health leadership, as well as state and local elected officials... Used pedagogically, the book is suitable for graduate-level students in public health, emergency management, public administration, and journalism...The authors bring a balanced mix of scholarship and response experience to the creation of this text.”
