JSU Named a Top Military School

12/22/2014

Military Advanced Education journal has awarded Jacksonville State University the designation of a Top School in its 2015 Guide to Colleges & Universities, which measures best practices in military and veteran education.

The guide was released in the December issue of the journal and is available online at www.mae-kmi.com. It presents the results of a questionnaire of the military-supportive policies enacted at more than 600 institutions including private, public, for-profit, not-for-profit, four-year, and two-year colleges.

JSU received high marks for flexibility and general support of military students. The university’s Department of Military Science is a cooperative venture with the U.S. Army and provides students an opportunity to learn and develop strong leadership skills necessary in both the Army and society.

JSU’s ROTC program offers an advantage that simply earning a degree cannot provide.  By completing both college and JSU ROTC courses, students enter the U.S. Army upon graduation as a Second Lieutenant (Active Duty, National Guard or Army Reserve) with a starting salary of nearly $47K.
