University to Remain Closed Wednesday, February 12

Jacksonville State University Weather Announcement

Updated Tuesday, February 11, 3:30 p.m.

Due to continued hazardous weather, Jacksonville State University will remain closed on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. All classes and campus events scheduled are cancelled.

Because it is possible that this storm system could bring continued hazardous weather on Thursday, the University will monitor the forecast carefully and make an announcement regarding Thursday operations as early as possible tomorrow.

There is potential for power outages with this storm due to ice accumulation on trees and lines. If you live in a dorm on campus, cannot return home, and the university loses power, the Office of University Housing and Residence Life will work to ensure that you stay warm. Although the university does not have a generator that can keep a large area warm and lit, there is one in the Cafeteria that will allow dining services to continue.

Jack Hopper Dining Hall will open at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, and will operate on its normal serving hours. All other retail and resident dining options are closed.

The Gamecock Express will not operate this evening or on Wednesday.
