New Art Department Head Featured

in First Exhibit for Fall 2008

 

 

The Jacksonville State University Department of Art announces the opening of Fall 2008’s first exhibit:

 

Jauneth Skinner

IMPRINTS: Works on Paper

September 2 - 26, 2008

 

Skinner works with narrative imagery taken from her extensive journals of her life and travels. Her “visual obsessions,” as she likes to call them, reoccur in her prints and drawings.

 

“There is always a narrative, a story. So whenever I start a print, I tell myself a story.”

 

These visual stories are luminous, often haunting and always beautiful to behold. Skinner’s works have been exhibited nationally and internationally, and her works can be found in over 150 private collections.

 

The campus community is invited to attend the opening reception for Skinner on Tuesday, September 2 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.; and for an Artist Talk at 8:00 p.m. in the Hammond Hall Art Gallery.

 

Gallery hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Exhibits are free and open to the public.
