Listed are some selected free table of contents (TOC) and new issue alerting services from journal publishers and database aggegrators. To receive these alerts, you will usually have to register with the site providing the service. In addition, a number of the databases to which we subscribe, such as EBSCO and Elsevier Science Direct, offer personal accounts that allow you to register and set up TOC alerts and/or new issue alerts. Some services also run automated searches and e-mail the results.
Note: some of these sites offer document delivery for articles not available at the JSU Library. It is often less expensive to use Interlibrary Loan instead.
- This page from the University of Delaware Library provides access to title lists and sign up pages for a number of publishers. Each service must be signed up for individually. Note: JSU does not have access to the American Institute of Physics SPIN Web database, users have to sign up for TOC e-mail alerts for each AIP journal individually.
- At the Elsevier ScienceDirect site, users may register to have journal tables of contents and abstracts delivered by e-mail when a new issue of a selected journal is available in Elsevier ScienceDirect. The e-mails also contain links to the full text of articles for registered JSU users. It is also possible to sign up for TOC and new issue alerts by setting up a personal account in the ScienceDirect database. Begin by clicking on the "Alerts" tab.
