Faculty/Staff- Carrie Kirk

I am thankful for the many opportunities that I have received through my training and certification in applied behavior analysis (ABA). I am a graduate of Jacksonville State University and for the last seventeen years, I have been working in the field of ABA. I have worked with the Department of Human Resources as a contracted counselor supervising and coordinating services across the five surrounding counties, and I have worked with an ABA consulting company training teachers and staff to provide ABA services to students in public and private schools. Currently, I work as an instructor in Learning Services teaching Academic Success Skills using direct instruction and precision teaching to accelerate academic behaviors, reading, and writing. Within Learning Services, I have piloted and continue to integrate the Developmental English component of NROC (Network Resources Open for College and Career Readiness) in our courses, and I travel with our team in Learning Services to conferences sharing our research findings from our classrooms. Additionally, I work in the psychology department coordinating, supervising, and training a team of practicum students and upcoming board-certified behavior analyst applicants in an after-school reading program offering services to local elementary school students resulting in gains of one academic year within 40 contact hours of instruction.
